Isochronous Mode Guideline
PROFINET
Description:
This Guideline provides information about the isochronous mode that is tightly related to the communication with equidistant cycle of data exchange that is provided by PROFINET and its RT Class 3 type of service. This information is additional to formal description of state machines and services of the isochronous mode that are provided in PROFINET specification “Application Layer services for decentralized periphery”. Thus, the intended reader is a developer of devices and controllers, which support isochronous mode as a functionality above the isochronous communication mechanisms. This Guideline also contains information for engineering system developers that concern especially the timings and other parameters, whose correct setting is a prerequisite for the isochronous operation.
