Process Control Devices (PA profile)
PROFIBUS PA , PROFINET , PROFIBUS
Description:
Plants with continuous processes especially in the chemical branch are managed by process controlled systems. The process control devices are connected to the plant network providing and consuming the measuring values respective output values primarily.
This specification is to support the standardization of application process definitions. This document specifies and defines:
• A base set of device parameters for operation, commissioning, maintenance, diagnosis.
• A mechanism to achieve connectivity of parameters defined by user groups and device vendors.
This document sets out a profile describing transmitters, valves, binary devices and others used in process control e.g. chemical industry, food, water and waste water, power station and basic industries.
The profile provides a standardization of typical device functions. This offers the possibility to standardize the reactions (behavior) of devices produced by different manufacturers in one system.
The determination of specific application process parameters and communication functions makes the interaction between the devices and the accompanying control, maintenance and diagnosis devices much easier.
The file PA-Profile-LabelDefinition establishes the reference from the parameters of the PA profile to IEC 61987 (CDD), to the core parameters of NAMUR recommendation NE 131 and to the BrowseNames of the OPC UA Process Automation Device Information Model (PA-DIM™).
It also defines the parameters' labels that should be used in visualization tools in English and German language.
