The E-Series from Temposonics (formerly MTS Sensors) is a linear position sensor that uses the principle of magnetostriction to measure position. The position sensors of the E-Series product family are suitable for a diverse range of industrial applications. Due to their compact design, the sensors are also suitable for applications where space is limited. The E-Series IO-Link is available in different models:

• EH rod style for position measurement in a cylinder
• EP profile style for position measurement of a motion axis
• EL ultra low profile style for position measurement of a motion axis
• EP2 flat profile style for position measurement of a motion axis
• ER rod & cylinder style housing for flexible mounting
• EE embedded rod style for position measurement in a cylinder

The sensor can detect and report the position of up to eight magnets simultaneously. With up to four magnets, the velocity of the magnet can also be detected and reported in addition to the position.
